Winterfest 2009

Looking for a great program opportunity for your Post, Crew, or Ship? Well look no further, because Winterfest 2009 is right around the corner! Winterfest has been an annual Exploring super activity since the early 1970’s (that’s right, for more than 30 years!), and thousands of youth participate every year; in 2008, more than 2,300 youth attended from all over the Southeast and Midwest - some came from as far away as Houston, Detroit, and St. Louis!

Winterfest is a full weekend of competitive and fun events that takes place in Gatlinburg, Tennessee during the winter – next year we’ll be there January 30 - February 1, 2009.  Some events are tailored to specific Exploring posts like Fire Service, Law Enforcement, etc. Other events are open to any participants regardless of special interest. A complete leader’s guide will be posted to www.nega-lfl.org that you can download and use.

Why promote Winterfest to the youth in your unit? Because it’s the largest, most exciting Exploring and Venturing event in the United States! Need more reasons? Well, units that attend Winterfest typically recharter with more youth, since their program quality is better, and they have better attendance at First Nighters since the Explorers and Venturers tell their friends about the fun they’re having in the unit.

Those are three great reasons to promote Winterfest to the youth in your unit. Another great reason is that the adults have just as much fun as the youth. Please contact Mike Shook for more information via e-mail at:  .
